'My Life and Times' is the autobiography of this humorous author of fiction and essays. Jerome Klapka Jerome was born in Walsall, England in 1859. Both his parents died while he was in his early teens, and he was forced to quit school to support himself. In 1889, Jerome published his most successful and bestremembered work, 'Three Men in a Boat'. Featuring himself and two of his friends encountering humorous situations while floating down the Thames in a small boat, the book was an instant success, and has never been out of print. In fact, its popularity was such that the number of registered Thames boats went up fifty percent in the year following its publication.

About the Author
Jerome Klapka (K.) Jerome was an English writer who is best known for his comic travel story, Three Men in a Boat, and the essay collections Idle Thoughts of an Idle Fellow and Second Thoughts of an Idle Fellow. Raised in poverty, Jerome entered into various careers in the railway, theatre, education, and law before his comic essays were accepted for publication. His writing career firmly established with the publication of Three Men in a Boat, Jerome went on to publish more than thirty works of prose and plays before his passing in 1927.

Wonderful!

I think JKJ is such an underrated author! He has been a favourite of mine since I happened to pick up a copy of "Three Men in a Boat" and found I couldn't put it down.
This autobiography is no less amusing and insightful.
He does not divulge deeply personal matters (marriages, kids, etc), but it is not a smarmy, tell-all book, just a class act - like Jerome K. Jerome himself.

Excellent Read

Loved this as I have enjoyed and learnt from Jerome's other books. I found his chapter on WW 1 particularly enlightening, fascinating to hear his own eyewitness account of the war which is so different from most of the history books. His soul searching description of his spirituality gives one a lot of pause for thought.
I preferred some chapters more than others which is why I gave it 4stars but continue to be impressed by his keen observations of his life and times.
