This book is very helpful with it's corresponding textbook, great for quizzing yourself before tests and quizzes. The study guide offers some assignment opportunities for instructors, so if you don't order it with your textbook you may be kicking yourself later! I'm only 5 weeks in to my Anatomy class and it's already been extremely helpful for me! It's worth the few extra bucks to be sure you have this extra kick of information!

Very solid book on how to optimize your web applications

Very solid book on how to optimize your web applications. First of all, i was happy to see github with the source code, to me it is a must when reading tech book, so that you can clone code and see its history. Secondly, I liked the fact that author chose very popular Node.js framework along with other heavily used technologies... Why 4 stars? I guess because I was hoping to see some server/memory optimization as well... this book focuses in great extend on how to optimize your css, images, etc, i.e. front end components, and it is very interesting and indeed useful. If author could include some backend optimization tips, it would be solid 5 star from me. (Perhaps title is a bit misleading if it was not in the scope)

On positive note, I highly recommend this book to anyone who is serious about web development. It is one thing to have cool page going, but if it is loading for few seconds or more, you wont have users unless they have great patience!

A thorough discussion on the thermodynamic aspects yields an in-depth understanding of the Pourbaix diagrams, while the kinetic discussions go well beyond Faraday's Law. Chapters dedicated to specific industries (aviation, automotive, food processing, and building construction) provide additional insight into practical corrosion issues. Despite the highly-theoretical treatment of most corrosion mechanisms, cathodic protection methods are not given adequate coverage for problem solving.

The book wrapped up with little drama the only one to really pay for her crimes is Jennifer her being a slave without any rights kinda was bittersweet. Robin survived and was able to get revenge on the policeman who violated her.

Could not leave this fantastic book unreviewed.

If you're reading this you already know it's 5 stars just for the fact that it exists. You can see the table of contents, it is awesome. As you can see for yourself, this is not just a collection of papers, but a nicely organized and well-digested monograph. I haven't read it much yet, but one small criticism - 'Options' isn't in the index, probably the indexers were not the authors and treated it merely as a common English word, but of course it does discuss options. It's pretty well appointed with diagrams and photos, some of them in color. The color ones are pleasant, but are a small proportion, and I'm not sure how much difference color makes, the choice to use color doesn't seem to follow much of a pattern. A final word - the softcover is plenty expensive, but the book is so thick I wish I'd bought the hardcover.

The concepts of the book are interesting and thought provoking ...

The concepts of the book are interesting and thought provoking, however, there is one very major constraining factor in my opinion.
For mechanisms described to have any chance of success they are predicated upon the existence of a "bi-directional Trust-Relationship" between both parties involved. The described approaches (such as speaking from the Gut) would appear to be certain to yield career suicide when you report to a Boss not a leader who's a Win-Lose negotiator constantly looking for leverage. I guess this is intended to be a top down approach as in I am the person in the position of authority and you have a problem that has come to my attention and now I need to decide what to do with you.

A strong concept presented without focus. Too safe and comfortable

The initial concept proposed in the book is excellent. By embracing the discomfort zone, you and your relationships can grow - I think that was the overall thesis of the book. However, once addressed, the book becomes a mess. The author tries to touch every topic self help topic from basic interpersonal skills to habit changing to finding your passion, and she does it in a rehashed, generic way (trying to blanket it under the concept of the discomfort zone). I think a shorter book that delved deeper into the concept of how discomfort promotes growth would be much more useful. As stands, I could only recommend the first 30 pages.

Surprisingly naive!

This book is about coaching using what the author calls "The Discomfort Zone" and a process summarized in "DREAM": Determine, Reflect, Explore, Acknowledge, and Make.

I simply couldn't complete the book, and ended up skimming and reading the end of chapter summaries and takeaway points. The reason is that the author started to repeat herself over and over again, and the examples given are noting but surprisingly naive.

I hate these kind of books where the claim is "I have discovered something new and better than anyone else... let me tell you about it!" only to see the ideas are deeply rooted in similar literature. This one was about coaching, and the key behind coaching is asking the right questions. Use the simple GROW model (Goals, Reality, Options/Obstacles, and Way forward) instead of this twisted model of "The Discomfort Zone".
